Small Business Management

After working tirelessly to achieve your dream, you’ll want to protect it and also your family’s income. Implementing proper legal steps now is vital to knowing those you love will be taken care of later.

There are different types of partnerships and corporations which can be created for a small business. The type of business is often the key factor. For example, real estate property is often held in a Limited Liability Company (LLC) for tax and other reasons. I assist the client in legally creating the entity to do business in New York State.

I discuss with my family business clients their goals for the business and wishes for involvement by other family members. I address the concerns when some children are active in the business and others are not. I work with accountants, life insurance agents, financial planners and even other attorneys in designing a business succession plan in the most efficient and cost effective way for the owner. The business plan also becomes an important part of the client’s Will or Trust.
